چکیده

In this research, we focused on fair bandwidth allocation on the Internet. The Internet provides communication services based on exchanged packets. The bandwidth available for each customer is often fluctuated. Fair bandwidth allocation is an important issue for ISPs to gain customer satisfaction. Static bandwidth allocation allows an exclusive bandwidth for specific traffic. Although it gives communications a QoS guarantee, it requires muany bandwidth resources as known as overprovisioning. In contrast with static control, dynamic control allocates bandwidth resources dynamically. It therefore utilizes bandwidth use more effectively. However, it needs control overhead in monitoring traffic and estimating the optimum allocation. The Transmission Control Protocol, or TCP is the dominant protocol on the Internet. It is also equipped with a traffic-rate-control mechanism. An adaptive bandwidth-allocation mechanism must control traffic that is under TCP control. Rapid feedback makes it possible to gain an advantage over TCP control. In this paper, we propose an Adaptive Bandwidth Allocation (ABA) mechanism as a feedback system for MPLS. Our proposal allows traffic to be regulated adaptively as its own weight value which can be assigned by administrators. The feedback bandwidth allocation in the previous work needs round-trip control delay in collecting network status along the communication path. We call this “round-trip feedback control.” Our proposal, called “one-way feedback control,” collects network status in half the time of roundtrip delay. We compare the performance of our one-way feedback-based mechanism and traditional round-trip feedback control under a simulation environment. We demonstrate the advantages of our rapid feedback control has using experimental results. key words: long-distance networks, adaptive bandwidth allocation, oneway feedback control, multi-protocol label switching (MPLS)

Using a Fuzzy Rule-based Algorithm to Improve Routing in MPLS Networks

Today, the use of wireless and intelligent networks are widely used in many fields such as information technology and networking. There are several types of these networks that MPLS networks are one of these types. However, in MPLS networks there are issues and problems in the design and implementation discussion, for example security, throughput, losses, power consumption and so on. Basically,...

MPLS automatic bandwidth allocation via adaptive hysteresis

MPLS automatic bandwidth allocation (or provisioning) refers to the process of dynamically updating the bandwidth allocation of a label switched path on the basis of actual aggregate traffic demand on this path. Since bandwidth updates require signaling, it is common to limit the rate of updates to reduce signaling costs. In this article, we propose a model-free asynchronous adaptive hysteresis...

Power Allocation Strategies in Block-Fading Two-Way Relay Networks

This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...

Real-time applications in 802.11 WLAN using feedback-based bandwidth allocation

The Hybrid Coordination Function (HCF) has been recently proposed by the 802.11e working group in order to provide real-time services in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). HCF is made of a contention-based channel access, known as Enhanced Distributed Coordination Access (EDCA), and of a HCF Controlled Channel Access (HCCA), which requires a centralized controller, called Hybrid Coordinator ...

Bandwidth feedback control of TCP and real time sources in the Internet

This paper proposes a feedback-based algorithm for congestion control and bandwidth allocation in the presence of either TCP traffic or both TCP and real-time traffic. In this proposal, the network layer conveys bandwidth and propagation delay measurements to data sources, for instance using IPv6 optional fields. TCP sources use this bandwidthdelay product to control their congestion window, wh...
